New manual and electric wheelchairs, fitted in person
We carry both manual and electric wheelchairs, and every single one on our showroom floor is new — never used, never resold. That’s not a marketing line. It’s a policy, and we’ll tell you about it plainly: when it’s your safety, or a parent’s, you deserve to know exactly what condition something’s in before it comes home with you.
WHY FIT MATTERS
A wheelchair that’s the wrong seat width or the wrong weight for daily terrain can be uncomfortable at best and unsafe at worst. Before recommending a model, Dean asks what actually matters:
- How wide are the doorways at home?
- Daily use, or a few weeks of recovery?
- Who will be pushing or driving it day to day?

Why the difference shows up at delivery
Order a wheelchair online and you’re often the one unpacking it, reading the assembly sheet, and hoping you got it right. Buy one here, and Dean typically delivers it himself, puts it together on site, and walks you through the adjustments before he leaves — brakes, footrests, armrest height, whatever your specific chair needs.
Our process — from visit to delivery
01
Visit or call
Describe what’s going on — whether you need a chair this week or you’re still comparing options.
02
A real conversation
Dean asks about doorway width, daily use versus short-term recovery, and who’ll be using the chair.
03
Try the real thing
See and sit in the actual chair in the showroom, not a photo on a screen.
04
Delivery & walkthrough
Dean personally delivers, assembles, and demonstrates the chair before he leaves.
Not sure which model fits your situation? Dean will walk you through what actually fits before you decide.
Why Sarasota families choose us for wheelchairs
Discount Medical Supply of Florida has been family-owned since 1987. Today it’s run by Dean, who’s worked in medical supply since he was thirteen, learning the business alongside his father. The store is AHCA-accredited in Florida — a real state confirmation that we meet operating and safety standards, not a claim we made up ourselves.
- New inventory only — no secondhand wheelchairs, ever
- Owner-led fitting, delivery, and setup on every sale
- Decades of hands-on experience across manual and electric models
Only need a chair short-term?
Our wheelchair rental may be the better fit for a recovery window.

That’s the point of the visit. Dean talks through your doorways, your daily routine, and who’ll be using the chair before recommending anything specific.
In most cases Dean delivers it personally, assembles it on site, and shows you how the brakes, footrests, and adjustments work before he leaves.
